He woke up and approaching his laptop. He was alone in his room. His roommate was away for an epic battle in class. He clicked on the bookmark on his Firefox, login into Gmail and checked his email. Nothing interesting, only a bunch of Facebook spams.

This thing, has been in his mind for a few months now. To own or not to own. He know that it will cost him some money. Survey has been done. Choices already narrowed down. Have to choose which one. Again, there are the third option; not to own.

He typed that URL to the address box of the browser, and ...

He has chosen to own it.

Then, he went to the bank. Crowded with people. Money is everywhere. He submitted the payment and smile that it soon to be his.

By using the email, the mail he sent delivered in a blink. Kinda amazing.

A few hours after that, he received the confirmation email.

"Completed: The registration of Nazuri.com for 1 years"

He smiled happily.

Haha, she’s actually refering to the meaning of my name, Nazri. According to the website, it means pandanku.

At first, I was like, “Pandanku? WTH?”.

For those who don’t what is pandan, let me explain what it is first.

The scientific name for pandan is Pandanus amaryllifolius.

Pandan is a tropical plant in the screwpine genus which is known commonly as pandan and used widely in Southeast Asian cooking. It is an erect green plant with fan-shaped sprays of long, narrow, bladelike leaves and woody aerial roots. The plant is sterile, flowers only very rarely, and is propagated by cuttings.

Ok, back to the story. Pandanku? Suddenly I remember kueh-kueh that my mom always make everyday for sale. Bingka pandan. Yummy.

Then I realised that the meaning of the Nazri is pandanganku. Not pandanku. It should be “my vision” not “my pandanus amaryllifolius”.

Pandanku was a typo! Websmaster for the website, take note of this please. Haha!

Ramadhan, Fall down and stand up.

Ahlan wasahlan ya Ramadhan, the blessed month. I know it’s hard to get rid of bad habit, but insyaallah I will slowly leave those things during this month.

I know it’s hard to start, but I’ll start with the first gear. Get rid of it bit by bit. Don’t suddenly start with the fifth gear. Shock will happen.

By the way, this week is the tuition free week for the degree student. Need to revise all the subject. Eng. Material 100, Eng. Maths 120, Eng. Mechanics 100, and for EFPC, the bridge design.

I admit that, in degree I expect myself to do better than foundation. I don’t know why. Maybe I watched to much anime. In anime the main character always do their best and never give up and eventually triumph in the end of the series. Some of you, might wondering what “Fall seven times, stand up eight” actually means. It is actually a Japanese proverb that says we must stand up regardless how many times we fell down.

Some of you might wondering why stand up eight times although we’ve only fell seven times. Well folks, i don’t really know about it. I guess it is a way of to state the importance of stand up and rise again every time we fell down.

Last Wednesday, there was an interview for E-Fact. What is E-Fact? Try search in the Curtin Miri website. Haha.

The interview was ok. I’ve done my best. It’s up for them to choose or not to choose. The best part of the interview is I get to know more people.

Spoke with the Jaja that night. She’s an enthusiastic band member. After that conversation, now I really want my own trombone and hope Curtin will have an orchestra.

Last saturday, I went to Sarawak Oil Palm mill for EFPC site visit. It was a great experience and get to see what is like to be in a palm oil mill. It was hot and steamy. =))

FYI, it is not my camera. It is Zarith’s and this picture was taken by Alyssa. My camera was paralyzed last semester. (Anyone know where to fix camera in Miri?)

For safety purposes, all students are required to wear the safety helmet when we were in the mill.

10 pelajar SMK Sains Kuching positif

KUCHING 18 Julai - Sepuluh pelajar Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sains Matang, Kuching yang disyaki dijangkiti selesema babi atau influenza A (H1N1) kelmarin disahkan positif.

Kesemua kes berkenaan melibatkan penularan tempatan.

Dengan kes terbaru itu, jumlah keseluruhan kes selesema babi di Sarawak meningkat kepada 55 kes iaitu 23 merupakan kes import dan 32 lagi merupakan penularan tempatan.

Bilik Operasi Negeri dalam kenyataannya hari ini memberitahu, 32 pelajar di dua buah sekolah menengah di Limbang turut menjadi suspek selesema babi setelah wujud simptom jangkitan H1N1 di kalangan mereka.

"Kita telah mengambil sampel 17 pelajar SMK Patiambun dan 15 pelajar SMK Kubong hari ini untuk pemeriksaan," katanya.

Menurut kenyataan itu, berikutan terdapat suspek kes H1N1, dua buah sekolah berkenaan ditutup selama seminggu bermula semalam hingga 23 Julai ini.

Semalam, Sarawak mencatatkan lapan kes penularan tempatan selesema babi setelah pelajar di SMK Agama Limbang disahkan positif H1N1.

Sementara itu, Pengarah Pelajaran negeri, Dr. Julaihi Bujang ketika dihubungi Mingguan Malaysia berkata, pelajar-pelajar suspek selesema babi kini menjalani rawatan di asrama sekolah masing-masing.

Katanya, Jabatan Kesihatan negeri memutuskan supaya kesemua pelajar menjalani rawatan di sekolah sahaja.

For a few days, I’ve been playing a game call Plants vs Zombie. You must be wondering, how in the world plant can fight against zombie. Well folks, this game was awesome. Although the game seems to be illogical but is fun and very interesting. Cute plants fighting against not-so-scary zombies.

This game is action strategy game all you have to do is to defend your house and prevent those zombies from entering your house or they will eat your brain! By the way, don’t trust the help section!

There is 5 playable mode in this game: Adventure, Mini-Games, Puzzle, Survival and Zen Garden.

There are various types of plant that can be used against various types of zombie. So, you need to strategize and pick the right plant for right zombie. However, the most interesting part of this game is the music video in the end of the game. The plants and the zombies sing together!

During this week, I watched two series of Japanese dramas, thanks to my beloved cousin, Aisya. I copied this 2 series from her which she copied from her friend.

The first drama is Bloody Monday.

The synopsis:

After a biological terrorist attack kills off the population of a Russian town; Japan's Public Safety Special Third unit, code name THIRD-i, believes that the terrorist organization responsible plans to unleash the same virus known as Bloody X into Tokyo. Subsequently, THIRD-i recruits the help of genius hacker Takagi Fujimaru to find out what happened in the Russia. However, as Fujimaru becomes involved, he soon finds out that he is in over his head and that the terrorist groups influence reaches not only his school but even the police. Fujimaru must now rely on his skill as a hacker to unravel the organizations sinister plot and find out the truth behind "Bloody Monday."

This drama was awesome although at certain time it did make my head spinning. There are also some unexpected things occur in this movie. I don’t want to reveal it. Go watch yourselves.

The second drama is Zettai Kareshi.

The synopsis:

Robot maker, Kronos Heaven, finally develops "Night Tenjo", the perfect male humanoid programmed to be devoted and completely loyal to his lover. Holiday: Tales of half of a fortnight.

Well, now I’m in Kuching after flying from MYY to KCH last Saturday with MH 2809. Seriously, it was the worst landing I ever experienced. The plane was bouncing when its landing. Scary. Credits to Shahro for picking me up at the airport that night with his loyal silver autobots, Avanza. Thanks also to the three Curtinians, Amfir, Hafiz and Yaqin for giving me a ‘not-so-surprise’ surprise for being at the airport to sambut me back to Kuching. O yes, they also using Avanza (red) that night. Hey, it’s that Nizam’s Avanza’s twin brother?

Directly after that, the five of us went to the stall near Masjid Bahagian to have our dinner. Finally, I can satisfied my taste bud with some Kuching halal mee kolok.

Sunday, I was out again for late night movie with the other four. We booked the ticket one day earlier as the original plan was to watch directly after I arrived in Kuching, but the show for that night was fully booked. So, we postponed it to the day after. After armoured up with some popcorn and soft drink, we enter the cinema hall and watched Transformers : The Revenge of The Fallen.

This movie was hilarious! Seriously, this movie have excessive amount of joke for an action movie. I just know that the Transformers does aging. Remember Jetfire? The action was great, as usual. The storyline was illogical. Why? Do you expect movie based on cartoon to be logic? Come on! (it’s khamon! if it is Ali style).

Monday, I was at home playing Maple Story.

Tuesday, Me and Shahro watched the movie Knowing at midnight at my house. Great movie.

Wednesday, I was out again accompanying Awang Eswandi and Vesler Efan watching Transformers. Shahro, what you said was true. I can sense the boring part of the movie at second time watching. Me and Vesler had our lunch at Sugar Bun. Eswandi went to pick his sister back from school. During the night, me and Shahro had another midnight movie event. Can’t remember what movie. I think it was Yes Man.

Thursday, stay at home, mapling. Also went to SCR Express to have dinner with Shahro. Finally, I manage to change my job to a Fighter in Maple Story. =)

Friday, after the Friday Prayer, me, Shahro and Don went to the school to visit. A lot of changes in terms of facilities. The thinking level of the student, I don’t know. And I heard an entourage from MOZAC is coming. I watched the videos from the Wind Orchestra Festival this year and I can say TKC have done a really good job. At night, the three of us plus Shahro’s sisters went to the cinema again to watch Ice Age 3.

This movie was really great. Good movie for family. Really funny! During the funny scene, there were some guys laughing like sawan swine. Cute baby mammoth.

Saturday, it was raining cats and dogs. I stay home and edit this blog. This is my first attempt editing blog template from minima template and I quite satisfied with the product.

I also would like to wish Deklin and Aaron Ko Happy Birthday. For Deklin, you are 2 years away to legally vote in Malaysia and for Aaron, now you can legally buy tobacco products and liquor and now you also can go clubbing! O yeah!

Now I’m writing this post in tranquil under the ceiling fan and I’m away from Curtin, resting at my uncle’s place in Permyjaya. Last week really worn me out. I was lost in this busyness of finishing the assignments.

::Curtin Islamic Society Annual General Meeting::

This event was held last Wednesday, 19th of May 2009. This meeting was purposely held in order to dissolve the old committee and name the new one.l Frankly speaking, the ceremony was done in a rush manner. However, I would like to congratulate all who help to make this event happen.

::Islamic Studies Group Presentation::

Finally, I did the presentation slides 3 hours before the class starts. I decided to do the topic “Islam and Terrorism” which briefly discuss about Islam is not the cause of terrorism but Islam is the solution to it. The presentation is a success, well for me, and next week is the last class for Islamic Studies.

I did my laundry today. Alas!

The Sims 3 which is scheduled to be release officially in 2nd of Jun 2009 already leaked to the Internet and of course, I played it today after I install it a week ago.

Assalamualaikum . What happened a couple of days before:

Curtin In Campus internet connection is down. Lakesiders and people at the ICT lab cannot access the outside world except for two; Moodle and the university’s website. It is very disappointing as many of the student need the Internet to finish their assignments as we cannot depend on Deconnexion as it is not accessible from certain part of the university. For an example, for those who live in Block A and B may received the signal but for those who live in the other block will have to bear living without connection. As for me, I’m using Celcom Broadband which is currently slow (because I already used up the 5 GB volume for this month; please refer to the fair usage policy before subscribing). Yes, the said that it’ll be unlimited access, but it is true! Unlimited access! However, they’ll cut down your speed.
I survived Pre- Marriage Course but I miss a few slots as I woke up late. I need to improve myself in this matter. Lack of sense of urgency. I woke up late because I felt it is not important. That must be the reason.
I becoming more sensitive these days. I don’t know why. And if you guys noticing, this blogs is becoming more and more personal. Frankly speaking, I become gloomy these few days. I wonder which event in my life in the past few days turn me to this. I’ll try to cheer up and have fun in this week which is appear to be impossible due to the stress I need to bear for the busyness of this week. I think it is because of myself from not being smart in time management.

So, that’s my weekend. Hope I can cope with this stress.

Seriously guys, I think last week is one of the busiest week of mine. I don’t know why.

Is it because that my mind is in disorder, following second law of thermodynamic)

It is just me that who like to procrastinate, doing revision at the eleventh hour.

Enough for that one.

After the exam, we have a talk from the school of engineering and science about the degree courses offered for students. Lecturers from different discipline explaining what is their field is all about. One of the most interesting lecturer that day is a Russian, Dr. Alexander Gorin. Although I cannot fully understand, every words from his mouth, he did mention about the difference between a scientist and an engineer.

Whoa~! I just realize that. Just imagine a world without engineer.

I went to SMK Riam for an an EFact program called Arts of Leadership which the participants are the class monitors and their assistant from all classes.

In this program, I am one of the facilitators that facilitate a group called Tok Janggut togather with Sharifah Amirah for the first day and with Hazwani for the second day.

This PC Fair was held at Miri Indoor Stadium. For me, this PC Fair is the boring as it offers less choice and smaller venue if compared to Kuching’s. However, I did get myself a cheap cooler pad for RM 13.

That day was Curtin Open Day, 4th April 2009. It was a very tiring day as I’m working at CIS booth as a Beverage Salesperson. The beverage itself is not as extraordinary as Caramel Frapuccino Grande etc because we were selling air gadong (banana cordial+milk). Gadong is Sarawak word which mean green. Bukan Kampung Gedong ye kawan2.

See the color of the beverage in the tank? Yes, It’s green. During this open day, I don’t have much time to walking around leisurely as I have the commitment to be at the CIS Booth. As far I can remember there’s a kid wearing Marry Brown mascot walking around the carnival. I pity that kid because when he/she take off the head of the costume, I can clearly see that he/she was sweating.

By the way, around 4.30 pm, suddenly it was raining cats and dogs. Because of this, almost of the food stalls by the clubs were closed.

Then, I went to see Curtin Idol at the LT 201 as we cannot use LT Foyer as it is wet and the organizer might being cautious so that the PA system would not be short-circuited due to the high humidity environment outside.

After Curtin Idol, there was a hair-cutting show. Damn boring.

Then, the long-waited moment. The announcement of the winner of the second prize and the grand prize. I was hoping for the second prize. But

wdf? I won the grand prize? I was shocked and when I get on the stage, I fell on the stage.

Right after I fell down.

Actually I have lost the ticket for the lucky draw and I have to show my ID as a verification.

Lucky me but not so lucky I guess.

I have won the grand prize, which is a return ticket from Bandar Seri Begawan to Perth, but I don’t feel that I am a winner because I didn’t got what I want. You see, winning is abstract. Winning is not about being the best but getting what you want. Although, in tremendous number of cases, people say they are the winner by being the best.

They really give only the ticket, excluded the tax which cost around RM 700 and it’s A ticket not tickets. So it’s only for one person.

Before I end this post, I would like to give credits for these pictures because these pictures are not taken by me. Early days of Foundation Second Semester 2009

Well, I’m in Curtin now for almost two weeks. I don’t know how to describe my feeling about this. It is not that I am not happy. I feel that I’m missing something. But, I can sense this semester will be better. (I hope so)

I am staying in my old room together with Hafiz, which is at the Lambir Lakeside Apartment. There’s a new apartment in the neighbourhood which is Loagan Bunut Apartment.

This semester, I am taking 6 units with 4 of the subject is the continuation from last semester plus two new subjects which is Islamic Studies and Effective Communication Skill (ECS).

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are the day that packed with classes and hours and hours of lecture.

Stowage?

Yes, I’m in Miri now after a damn long summer break (although we don’t have summer in Malaysia) *sigh*

I’m happily announce that I bought a really cheap ticket to Miri which cost me only RM 50 (RM 15 for the ticket and RM35 for the tax) and it’s cheaper than the long tiring journey by a bus which cost RM 80.

Thanks to Natasha, I arrived at the airport safe and sound. Also thanks to Izi and Nina for being in the entourage to the airport.

After I checked in, I still have half an hour to spend with the three girls as the boarding time will be on 4 pm. So, we went to McDonald to take a bite.

Luv ya guys! ahaha~ Thanks for sending me to the airport.

Anyway, at the very first time, I sit next to the aircraft emergency door. Tempat letak kaki (foot parking?) is wider than the other place and I love spacious place. Har3.

But what grabbed my attention is this.

For all senior students of Sainsku, numbers are the things that we have to stare upon and encode the mystery everyday for at least 2 hours ( and more). Terms like: “…with respect to X” “times ori power, presereve the….”“As easy as kiam chai cha loti…” are the common thing in everyday life… I know that Additional Mathematics is hard. Thank God, it is not Multiplying Mathematics (or it’ll be harder) XD

Although we learn about numbers inside the class ( well i mean when the teachers are around), we also learn about the numbers inside the class( and outside) without the teacher. Yes, we play the Big 2 game but it is not for gambling, it is for the sake of learning. Most of the time, we learn about number patterns, and we also train in how to make a decision, and analysing the situation in order to achieve victory. I can say that this game is such a fascinating game, as we need to use strategy to win (and a bit of luck, i guess).

In the game, we do not always got what we want, do not always find what we seek for (in terms of getting good card). It is the same thing in the reality, we often make unwise decisions; in the end, regretting it

So, make a wise decision, think thrice before you move and try to foresee the effect in the future. ( we did learn about cause and effect in physics XD)

I am an anime otaku. During this 2 months holiday (1 month to go), I finished watching Hikaru No Go, Shakugan No Shana, Shakugan no Shana second, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Lucky Star, Clannad, Mahou Shoujou Lyrical Nanoha A’s and Strikers, and still airing in Japan, Soul Eater and Toaru Majutsu No Index. Hmm... why most of the anime that I watched are about mahou shoujou. I guess it is because of someone’s influence. こなちゃんはかわいい！

I used to be skinny (Well, when I was around 6 years old. kenape? x percaye ye?). Now, my body full with lipid! I live longer than skinny guy in cold weather because I have this reliable protective layer.

Believe or not. My room is pink. It’s not like I like pink. If I paint it red, my mom will say it macam tokong. So, I paint pink. It give me a nice feeling here. But it’s not the fluorescent pink.

I DON’T SMOKE! Smoking is bad. Bad for your health and bad for your money. I’ve seen the effect of smoking in my very own house. One word for it. Breathless.

My comment:

I fell in love with this movie at first sight when I watch its promo video when they play it when I watched When Earth Stood Still last month together with Shahro. At that time, we’ve decided to come back to the cinema to watch Bedtime Stories and we did it on 1st of January 2009. I’ve also watched this movie for the second time during my day out with Lin and Zarith on 7th January 2009.

In my opinion, this movie carries various messages such as

Love. Love in many forms. Love between siblings, your friend, and love our nature. (Save the earth!)

Imagination. Imagination is something that boundless. With the power of imagination comes creativity.

Well, my favourite scene of the movie is the scene of the ancient Greek X-Games which I found it really cool and creative. Who knows that the Greek really invented the X-Game, after all they started the Olympics!

Okay peeps! Enough with the movie review. I’m going to tell what happens last 7 January. You probably know that I went out with Lin and Zarith.

First, we went to the Mita Cake House to buy cake. Well, Lin, I’m sorry because the surprise wasn’t surprise enough as I can read the situation earlier. After that, we went to Chilli Pepper to have our breakfast( Well, that’s the thing that they said to me…) Anyway, I really appreciate for the surprise Birthday cake that you guys bought for me. It just so happen, last year a similar event occur to me. Two girls bought me a birthday cake. It’s been twice in a row!

After that, we went to watch movie, Bedtime story. First time for the two of them, the second time for me. (well, I don’t mine as Lin was paying for me, LoL)

Then, we went back home. That’s early. For me, 3 pm is still early, but for those girls, it’s time to go back. Otherwise, their parents will hunt for them. Hahaha~

For a few days, Kuching has been blessed by countless drops of rain which in the end, caused most of the Cat City areas were flooded. My place, Taman Malihah was not in the exemption list. I really pity for those who live in phase 1. We in the phase 2 were lucky as our place is at a higher terrain and have a better (just a little) drainage system. As far as I can remember, the last time, we were flooded in the similar scale was in the year 2003 ( correct me if I made a mistake). At that time, I was in form 1. Fortunately, the water never reach my house because

I live in phase 2 (yay!)
maybe because of renovation that been made to my house. The water only reach the front gate of my house.

As I walk out from my lane, I can see that the junction to my house was flooded up to the calf level. At this time, the weather was still in a good mood; the rain stopped (for a while) and then suddenly the water started to pour from the sky. I went home to grab the the umbrella and off again to continue my mission; taking photos of this tragedy ( is it a right word?). Then, I went to the main junction to my primary lane. I witnessed a rare scene. OMG! Where is the road. I’m sure it was here a few days ago! Hahaha! The road is still THERE. Just, it looks like a river. They even have an island with a tree on top of it and some people who walk on the water (joking). If you look further in this picture, you’ll see the phase 1 area that was severely flooded (relatively to phase 2).

Yes, we still can see the Mount Serapi ( not Serapi Corner). That day, I wondered, why the makcik was at the bus stop? I guess she was waiting for the bus. But, I didn’t see any sign of bus activity that day. Ah… good. Another island, with the bus stop on top of it.

I walked to the shop lots across the road. Yes, a lot of people hanging out at the junction. This happen mainly due to, one: blackout, no electricity, two; they are bored because of blackout, and three: they( including me) have nothing to do! That three reason is damn true for me. It was blackout, I cannot on my laptop ( basically can, because it can be powered by battery, but I need to save it for greater purposes) and I have totally nothing to do. Well, my mom was panicking and we already prepared for then worst case scenario.

Among all of the pictures I took that day, this picture is definitely my favourite. A picture of a bunch of people sitting at the back of the pick up truck, almost similar to an experience of cruising Sarawak River on a cruiser. But, this act is very dangerous, so, nobody should copy this act, during flood or normal circumstances.

Although it was flooded, we can still see normal cars like VIVA and Kancil were brave enough to move in the flood. In the end, the engine was dead in the middle of the floody (i made my own word) road and was laughed by the people that lepak at there. But the worst thing that can happen to them is;

THIS! broke their plate number!

Seriously peeps, I can describe this game in one word. AWESOME. When I play this game, it felt like playing different games in one!

exam result was out. For me, It is NOT AWESOME. Even though I passed all, well above 50 is consider pass, however It does not grant me satisfaction as I can do much better than that if I worked hard. IF. But I didn't.

Way back for the past 2 years, I been listening something like, "Nazri, WORK HARD! YOF WYDC IDUY!"

For student of Additional Maths Guru, Pak Lim, you'll understanding the incomprehensible code as I stated above.

Anyway, now I've been thinking...what am i going to do for the next three months? Just see my Game Explorer folder....

Currently, I'm playing Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Need For Speed: Undercover, plus other arcade games such as Dinner Dash, Tradewinds Legend and others.

And.

I'm looking foward to play Spore and Devil May Cry 4 and still waiting for Shahronizam to give the games.

Hi peeps! Sorry for not updating this sweet blog of mine. (yeah...bloggers always do this, apologize for not updating their blog)

Hahaha~ Ok, let me tell what i've past through this two weeks...

1. Submitting my last physics report
2. Submitting chemistry lab report and lab notebook
3. Submitting research essay, cause and effect of migration
4. Finishing the C++ program, do the documentation and attend the viva interview with Mr. Foad.

For the viva interview, I got 9/10 because I don't answer properly about the conditional operators.
The physics report...er..don't want to talk about it. Same goes with the chemistry. Research essay, I finished it on 10 a.m, Friday 31 October. Deadline is on 12 pm. Fewh!

However, I just discovered the Counter Strike addiction is spreading like a virus. I think all of the Petronas scholars from our batch play CS ("all" applies for the girls also). Click [here] for Seraphina's confession regarding this matter.

Plus, we took some picture near the lake before C++ (I) last lecture on 24 October.

On Saturday, 25 October, I went to Boulevard for JomHeboh Karnival. I'm not hoping to meet the singers or actors that were there during that day,(or ingin bersalam dengan Karam Singh Walia) BUT I'm hunting for free food. As far as I can remember, there were Zed Zaidi, Adam, and etc. but I want food not them.

I went there with Muslim as Aaron had a CUTEC (Curtin University of Technology Engineering Club) party and gathering.

The funniest part of this event was when Muslim was asked to "kacau" the mixture at Maggi booth. Actually, it was raining and we have "berteduh" there. Suddenly, the decide to make a cooking demo.

Do you guys know what is McFlurry? No, not Mr. McFlurry your neighbour or Mr. McFlurry your cat. All that I can say that, it's AWESOME.

I'm sure you guys know what it is. It's a desert from McDonald! My all time favourite.

The McFlurry is a vanilla ice cream dessert that has pieces of candy, fruit or cookies mixed into it. The mixing blade for the dessert is actually a specially designed spoon with a hollow handle that attaches to the mixer spindle. The blade is used once then given to the customer to use to eat the product.

Last Friday, we went to Malik's House a.k.a founder of sheep319.com.

His house is green at front. Whoa! This house got murals on the wall and sign all over the place. *forgot to take picture of them*.
I arrived together with Jim, Ina, Sha, Adam, and Zaty. Then Lin, Syafiq and Najwa came.

The food that I enjoy much at his house is the sweet and sour fish! *nyum nyum*

Ina, Zaty, Adam, Sha, Lin and Syafiq balik awal. That left only me and Jim. When people began to crowded the house, Malik invite us to his room.

Actually, the best part of this visit was not the food. It was playing Rock Band!

For your information, I live in Lambir Lakeside Apartment in Curtin University.

Actually, walking around in the campus during night is NOT a good idea as we must beware of the bloodsuckers, mosquitoes! From the picture, we can see that a red brick building. That is the Mechanical Engineering Building or its code, ME. Every evening (in good weather), we can see people jogging around the lake. For me, I never jog at there. That's why I getting fatter after Ramadhan.

The Iron Chef

In every floor of the apartment, we share a common kitchen complete with two fridge, sofas and tv. We seldom cook as we always tapau food from the cafe or go to Senadin to eat. But, tonight we cook and eat together as Dhimas was supplying almost everything! Thanks for the rice, serunding and etc.

Like I say before, my weight increases after Ramadhan. Eat a LOT during raya. From the morning until midnight. Definately will eat when ngabang rumah orang. I need to cut dawn my weight(not my stomach). Ha3. I'll not perform harakiri or seppuku.

I really like Indomie. As far as I can remember, there was a time in our school all of my schoolmates (boys lah, not the girl) experience this Mee-Sedap-love state which me and Mervin (not Melvin) not were immune of it. Both of us don't like (not hate) the strong smell and taste of mee sedap which I can say erm...iritating?(really?) For me, Indomie is better than mee sedap? Am I right to say that? The broken bed

If you guys rewind(is it the right word to use?) back to my old post, I've mention about me broken my bed during sleep. It is not the same bed. Actually, it's the 3rd bed I use in Curtin!
Surprisingly, I think I have break the record of having most number of bed in Curtin. My bed have broken for 3 times (not 1 not 2 but THREE!) and for the new one, they installed EXTRA foundation to the bed PLUS they screw the foundation the bed. Have you ever break your bed before?

In the picture we have Zaty's group presenting their nation to us, which called Zatyland. Oooops! It is not Zatyland, it is something called D'Nahl-what-so-ever. Sorry Andrew for not remembering your nation's name. Please don't shoot me and don't throw me to the sea. Ha3. I'm looking foward seeing Andrew being the Minister of Defence (can I paraphrase to Minister of War and Weaponaries?). And for Adam, do a good job as Minister of Health. Fantastic Dinner with MOSQUITO

Well, the CIS Eid Mubarak Dinner was totally great except we have to bear the pain bitten by the blood-sucking da*n mosquito. It is not just us that had a feast, as well as the mosquito. The have suck various kind of the blood; Maldives, Malaysians, Arabs, Sarawakian...Africa maybe? Ha3...

That night, I was performing for both entertainment slots(slots, not sluts...) for the dinner.

Firstly the nasyid perform by Zul, Afiq, Syafiq, Miqdad and Me.

Ours is EXACTLY like the Brother's but maybe with a few wrong pitching and imperfect harmonization. But hey! It's a good job done for one night practice performance...

Well, I am back in Kuching for a week since the 13 September until 21 September...So, I'll tell you guys about my days in Kuching...

I went back to Kuching by bus (P.B) and it took about 13 hours to arrive in Kuching. It is a first time experience for Aaron and Jackie to travel by a public express bus from Miri to Kuching. For me, it's the second time. Jackie Chen is a kelantanese boy who's new to Kuching City as it is the very first time for him to step on the land of the Cat City. I realised that it is very risky to use a bus to go back to Kuching. But, hey even if we use plane or walking back to Kuching, risk is something that we cannot avoid. Finally, we arrive in Kuching safe and sound...

The Box

My brother is using my BenQ camera and cannot wait myself to get a dslr for now as my money $$$ is not enough. (DSLR is in my wishlist!!) So, I decided to buy a new camera, a compact type because it is cheaper and I really need a camera to immortalize my moment in Curtin.

After surveying in few places in Kuching such as Tun Jugah, Satok, Sarawak Plaza and Riverside finally I made up my mine and bought an Olympus camera, FE-340. It costs me RM *00 and there's go my allowances for this month (sigh). But, nevermind. At least now I can capture pictures using a proper camera 8 MP not using my phone's 2 MP camera.

And when I'm in Kuching, unfortunately we didn't have internet connection at home. So, once again I cannot update my blog.

However, when I'm back in Miri, I was too busy with my assigments and I don't have enough spirit and time to sit down and relax updating my blog. I hate to update my blog in a stressed condition.

Bad Conection...

I don't know why the deConneXion is very unstable for the past few days.Same goes with the LAN, can connect to the network, access the Moodle and Curtin website but other than that, cannot.
This inconvinience situation makes me bored. I cannot read my emails, watch Youtube and read Malaysian Today. My friend, Dhimas sleep so early at night because of this.
The LAN last night was even worse than before. It suddenly become an unidentified network; not like always, the name is "Network 4 or Network 5".
For your information, deConneXion is a free wireless internet provide by Danawa Sdn Bhd, the only ISP in Sarawak that offer ubiquitous Wireless Internet connectivity in the resort city of Miri with the launch of the DeConnexion WiFi service. The company has set up Wi-Fi "Hotzones" throughout the city centre in the first phase of its rollout plan. Additional Hotzones will be set up over the next few months to provide at least 80% wireless coverage of Miri city. The suburbs of Miri will also be covered in subsequent deployments.

To use this service, users must register online and get instant access. However, this service is free only until 31 December 2008

Assalamualaikum, sorry for not updating this blog. Actually this past few days have been one of my hectic time in Curtin and I'm sure there are more to come. And, it's not late for me to wish all of the Muslims, "Happy Fasting", may we got His blessings from this month of barakah. This is a month which all of the Jannah's doors are open and all of the Hell's doors are close. Hopefully this month will make us a better person than before. I'm not saying that we cannot change to a better person during other month, but let's make this month as a kick-start for us.

Alhamdulillah, we already try our best to give a "bestest" performance that night for the sketch. Being the head of the Japanese troops in the sketch definitely is a tough job. I need to be more serious as HE is really mean and firing bullets through the hero head. However, I'm not that serious and I did the scene with a natural feeling...

Curtin Volunteer- Shell's Time Capsul

This is my first volunteer work with the Curtin Volunteer, 16 August 2008.
Actually, it was a treasure hunt but a high level one, not like the treasure hunt we used to do in school. The battlefield is NOT the school compound but the whole Miri City!!
And, of course they were using engine-powered vehicles which are local taxis.
The participants are the Shell worker from various branches throughout Malaysia.

Suddenly, it was raining...The wind blew vicious....

Actually I broke my bed last week while I was asleep. How can that be possible? The First Essay

This is my first that i wrote in Curtin during for the Research and Writing Skills Unit...So, please do not hesitate to comment about the essay, in term of grammar or etc. It's an essay about drug abuse among the teenagers and the lecturer is Mr. Ellison Ludan Mayan.

Drug and alcohol abuse is defined as the improper use of drug and alcohol in a negative manner which leads to health defects. Teenagers have been found involving themselves in this serious misconduct. This regretful behavior is likely causes by lack of parental supervision, lax enforcement of drugs law and the social and psychological problems of teenagers themselves.

Parents plays a vital role in oversee their children as well as guiding them to make wise decisions their life. However, most of parents are both working nowadays. They tend to neglect this responsibility due to the hectic schedules of working. They should not be workaholic as this will contributes to the reduction of their time with the children. Parents also should not give an absolute freedom to their children as too much freedom can lead to negative things. In this adolescence period, teenagers are curious and like to discover and try new things. They need guidance from their parents. The parents should know where their children are and who their friends are so that they can see how is the social life of their children. Separation of parents due to divorce most likely makes the children abandoned without any moral support. The children make their own decision without knowing it is right or wrong, and wrong decision can lead to bad consequences.

Other than that, lax enforcement of drug laws contributes to this matter. Regretfully, corruption does occur among the authorities’ officers such as the police. They take bribes in order to satisfy their own desire and at the same time neglect their duties to the nation. Maybe the penalty of drug abuse is seen as trivial or not severe enough to threaten the juvenile criminals. They take the punishment very lightly as there is nothing to be scared of. The authorities need to be more proactive to overcome this situation as the efforts that have been done seem not enough. The awareness campaign should be advanced as the conventional method is not working effectively.

Youngsters have social and psychological problem of their own. Being hurt emotionally make the teenagers depressed, yet taking the easiest way to relieve the torn heart without thinking the outcome in the future. Peers are the most influential people to the teenagers. Their persuasive power in affecting the others is splendid. In order to put him or her in a group, one has no choice but to follow their style, and action. Teenagers also can be reckless when challenged by others. They dare to do anything as long they are recognized as a brave man or should I say being thoughtlessly heroic and involved themselves in the no-turning back doings of drug and alcohol abuse.

Lack of parental supervision, lax enforcement of drugs law and the social and psychological problems of teenagers themselves have triggered the drug and alcohol abuse among teenagers. This can hinder the development of our country as the teenagers are the future leader. So, these factors must be taken seriously and actions regarding to this matter must be executed.

Away From Home

Today, I attended my first Research and Writing Skills class with Mr. Ellison...He's a very funny man and interesting...we actually talking about the advantages and disadvantages of being away from home which I found interesting to be discussed about because most of us come from outside Miri, especially the international students that come from various country such as Bangladesh, Iran, and Middle East.

[F]REEDOM
From my perspective, i found that freedom can be a advantage and disadvantage as it is depends on the person, how he or she use freedom. For example, life in university need us to be effective in time management and if one neglects that, the person might not complete tasks such as assignment,project and tutorial in the given period. Other than that, effective financial management is also crucial as we need to keep tracking our expenses as we need to spend every Ringgit wisely. In order to achieve to two, we must have self-discipline. To be frank, my time management and financial management is not very good(well, i can say BAD! lol...) I like to do things at the eleventh hour and i willing to spend more on food. However, I need to change. From bad to good, from good to better and finally be the best. It's a long journey to take.

For me, every decision including the tiny matters that we've made bring to different events and and we cannot undo that decision, just like we did in Microsoft Office and etc. There is no turning back,and it is useless to regret for the past. Learn from the past, learn from mistake and improve ourselves. Imam Al-Ghazali said that," the past is the furthest thing fom us because no one can go back to the past". So, although Antartica is far from Malaysia, it still can be access using aeroplane but how can we go back to the past?

[A]WAY FROM HOME
Being away from home, it's not a new thing for me because I've been in a boarding school before. Being away from home, it'll mould us to become more independent and more appreciate our parents. We'll become more mature as time pass. We'll begin to think various things in your life. As for me, I begin to think many things that never think in my secondary school's life such as my role in society and what so ever. And I pray to God, please give me guidance, nur hidayah-Mu, to be in the right path, Siratal Mustaqim....
